The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor, The Four-Way Test has become one of the most widely known ethical codes in the world, translated into more than 100 languages and adopted by organizations everywhere as a guide for fair and responsible decisions — in business, in relationships, and in everyday life.
For Rotarians, the test isn’t just a statement — it’s a practical decision-making tool, applied consistently in professional work and in community projects.
